1. Children learn to write before they read?

2.  There is a high correlation between reading and writing. The more kids write the better readers they become and the more kids read the better writers they become.

3.  Students in a classroom should spend 40 to 60 minutes a day reading.

4.  Children become better decoders when encouraged to invent spell as they write. Invented or temporary spelling is a beginning strategy, which encourages children to sound out words(phonics) as they write.

5.  The best way to become a better reader is to read, read, read, and read some more!

6. The best way to become a better writer is to write, write, write, and write some more.
